ARTIST INFORMATION
The Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists (MCGOPA), founded in September 1996, is a non-profit (501c3) organization. MCGOPA provides a platform for artists to exhibit their work. We educate the public about the fine arts and offer professional collaboration and support to working artists. MCGOPA provides opportunity for critiques, lectures, demonstrations and communication among working artists. We are all working artists and try to support each other in achieving our individual goals.

ELIGIBILITY
Artists living and/or working in Montgomery County Pennsylvania are eligible to present to jury.
We will also consider artists from other counties who live close enough to actively participate.
MCGOPA accepts only original works produced by the artist in Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Stained Glass, Jewelry, Hand-pulled Prints and other works on Paper and Photography.
Work is judged on artistic merit and how well it works with current MCGOPA artists.
Proper framing and presentation is important. We will provide framing guidance where necessary.
Prospective artists should consider themselves to be professional and be producing enough work to exhibit on a regular basis. Preferred though not always required applicants are expected to have already achieved a certain level of professionalism in the arts as evidenced by a combination of the following:
• Dedication to the visual arts as evidenced through a body of work
• Graduation from a professional art program
• Current representation by a commercial gallery
• Sales of original artwork
• Exhibition experience in juried/curated shows
RESPONSIBILITIES
All artists will participate in exhibition operations and receptions.
Each artist will assume a yearly responsibility on a rotating basis—we accomplish many goals because everyone participates. We are a co-op group–so everyone has a job.
Meetings are held on the third Thursdays of each month at 10AM. Attendance is necessary.
YEARLY DUES are $75.
All artists are expected to communicate by email in addition to the monthly meetings.
Artists may also be asked to contribute time, food and wine for receptions. schedule.

MCGOPA may contact you to schedule an appointment to bring 6-10 artworks that represent your body of work, framed as you would show them in a gallery.
If your work is extremely heavy or large, you may bring several smaller pieces and photos of your larger work to our meeting.
You will be asked to bring a recent resume, bio and artists statement to your appointment with a check for current dues. Checks will be cashed upon acceptance to MCGOPA.
