Artist Bio & Statement

Dae Rebeck Sanchez is a fine artist who has shown in museums, galleries, art centers and fine art festivals regionally, nationally and aboard. Dae works primarily with acrylic paints, photo-based transfers, and collage on wood panel. Her work focuses on urban/suburban decay, women, and personal narrative. Born in Burlington City, New Jersey, but residing in Pennsylvania for over 25 years, She studied at The Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico and received her bachelor’s degree from Moore College of Art & Design. Dae has won many art awards including “Best in Oil and Acrylics” at the Chestnut Hill Arts Festival and “Best in Mixed Media” at the Manayunk Arts Festival. She is a published art writer, featured in “Cloth, Paper, Scissors” Magazine and her images have been printed in various publications including Cloth, Paper, Scissors, Philadelphia Stories, the Moore College of Art and Design Catalog and various literary magazines. She has taught classes for The Greater Norristown Arts League and the Cheltenham Art Center. She teaches private Mixed Media workshops out of her art studio. She has been selling her artwork at the Art Shop at Moore College in Philadelphia for the past 20 years and online in her Etsy store CircusAbandon since 2009. She has been a member of InLiquid, The Main Line Art Center, The Women’s Caucus for Art, ARTsisters, The Greater Norristown Art League and the Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists. Dae has been commissioned to create many unique photo-based art portraits for her clients over the years.

In May of 2020 Dae was diagnosed with chronic angle closure glaucoma and lost most of her peripheral vision and some central vision. Many procedures and surgeries later, She is now legally blind but fortunately still able to create her art. However, the condition is life long and keeping the remaining vision will be an ongoing battle.
