Artist Bio & Statement
Barbara Rizza Mellin is an award-winning painter, printmaker and poet, who recently relocated and established her home studio in Aston, PA. She holds a BS in Education from Northeastern U. and a graduate degree in Art History from Harvard University. She has taught art and writing at all levels from K to College and has written about art, artists and world culture for national and international publications. As an art historian and artist, she creates art that reinterprets traditional art techniques for modern audience. She enjoyed sharing her love of printmaking with other through workshops, lectures and demonstrations. Her artwork has been exhibited throughout the U. S, including one-woman exhibitions at Neumann University (Aston, PA), Duke U., SECCA (Southeast Center for Contemporary Art), and Piedmont-Triad International Airport, Greensboro. NC. She has also exhibited in museum and gallery group shows, including at High Point U, Salem College (NC), Hickory (NC) Museum of Art, Attleboro (MA) Museum of Art, Whistler Museum, Spazio SV-Centro Espositivo San Vidal, Venice, Italy, Fresno Printmaker’s Guild, and Aston Mills Studios, Aston, PA. In addition to MCGOPA, she is a juried member of Oil Painters of America, International Mezzotint Society, The Boston Printmakers, Delaware Valley Art League, and American Color Print Society
