Irma Shapiro has painted, studied, sold and has received recognition and won awards for her artwork. Irma defines herself as a colorist, mixing expressionism and impressionism on large canvases with lots of brushwork. Acrylic is her medium of choice. She has studied at Tyler School of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Samuel Fleisher Art Gallery, Moore College of Art and The Main Line Art Center working with a number of distinguished teachers and mentors including Sol Carson, Jim Leuders, Martin Jackson, Sam Fried, Laura Goodman and William S. Greenwood. Irma has exhibited in multiple one-woman shows and her work has been featured in various publications. She is involved with many arts organizations in the Philadelphia area including The Sketch Club, The Plastic Club, The Art League, The Artist Guild of Delaware County, Philadelphia Tri-State/Artists Equity, Chester County Art Association and MCGOPA.
